The re entry visa of my dependents expires in april. Iqama renewal is already in progress and should be done in 10 days..
After I recieve new Iqama of my family, can I extend their re entry visa from here without asking them to enter Saudi ,
i heard there is a long procedure, with some applications and all,
does anyone know the details pls.

It's not a lengthy process anymore and is available on the MoFA site:
https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/visaServices/MoquimServices

I can't share the first hand experience though.

"Enables residents to apply for the extension of expired re-entry visas for their families"

its for expired re entry visa... in my case I want to extend  visa before it expires in April this year...
is the process same?

Yes, I understand your concern of risking the residency in full.

I know someone who was advised to wait till the ERE expires. But he later ran into quite different set of problems.

Please do try out the option above; I'm not sure if it's the same for expired and un-expired EREs.
