Hi All,

My question here from all the world if you dont have money to survive then what  you will gonna do with yourself? which side you will go bad or good deeds. Share your thoughts.

Don't get into debt!!!!! BIG penalties if you do - jail at least - flogging in Saudi for this? Not sure on that - but could be - they are very fond of their corporal punishment in the form of whipping. Sometimes, the number of lashes are so great that it is a slow painful death lasting several months. They do the lashes in instalments, so eventually sepsis will set in and then death.
But don't think that is for getting into debt.......not sure though!! Do please find out.

Other then the other

What u mean? Is debt same as credit card? (master, visa)

Most of us, if not all, are trying to plan for the future so we would not face the day when we run out of money. I mean running out of money that we can use to manage our lives.

nigelgodfrey

...you can go into debt on a credit card.
A debit card is taken out of your bank account - so you are not having credit. Do not confuse debit with debt!
Debit is the financial transaction of withdrawing cash.
.DO NOT welch on a debt in Saudi!!!

With or without money... Each of us should always try to be a good citizen, nice to others, positive and productive.

Other then the other

Hi there
Why would you go bad if you ran out of money!? Just stay focused on how to survive and work out to improve your life . It's a test for you in life , and getting through it will power you up when facing other problems.
We all go through problems, health or financial but the important thing is to stay calm and preserve ourselves.

But in case you were looking for solutions not  just talking you can try to go back to your country ,or get another job anything so you will stand on your feet.

Be with God and care for nothing, hold on into your faith and believes , and shall God show you the right path.

lashes, whipping!! where the hell you get your information from??

there is no such punishment for having debt. Even though jail could be a punishment, person who stuck with debt may exercise so many solutions  before getting to the jail steps.

Kind regards,,

No one can run out from money in this world, we all got friends, relatives, bank facilities, companies where you work, co-workers, salary after month, lot's of ways you can get borrow or credit from friends or company advance, after all you have non of them with you that only can be 5% chances, in case that happen in this country than don't think to go wrong way, try to find any part time (Even it's not allowed here) on daily basis where you can get pay to survive for food at least.

Debt means to owe someone.

There is no law in Saudi or any other country to punish someone for owing money.

Do not equate debt with stealing or cheating someone?

Why so much hate? No one forced anyone to be in Saudi, all expats are here on their own free will to make a decent living. And most expats are law abiding citizens.

How do you relate DEBT with being a criminal activity?

Please do not use hate speech to incite violence and make wrong statements.

This is one of the diseases on this forum. Extremely ignorant  answers and advice. I wish people would take what they say/write online with a smidge of responsibility

Islam and Sharia law Do Not flag those who are in debt and cannot/do not pay. Flagging people is done for crimes that affect the entire society such as terrorism,  cut-throats, armed robbery, drug trafficking, etc.

Maximum that can happen to an expat who is late on bank payments is go to jail

Hi, Running out of money is not a problem. In Saudi Arabia, when you're working it's possible to run out of money. But it's not an issue since you have companions your fellow expats in your accommodation. Muslims and Christians alike are happy to help their brothers and sisters in need.  It's only money, many of us will help you.
It's better to have no money and many will help you but do not forget and lost your iqama and keys, they are the most important part of your life here in Saudi Arabia.

Again, run out of money is not an issue, you can always count on our brother muslims and Christians alike.
God Bless. God is good everytime..

I have worked in the Middle East, on and off, since 1979, including Saudi Arabia.
Not honouring a debt IS taken as more of a serious manner that in the west.
I am just emphasising that a different mind set over money and debt needs to be had in the Middle East than in the west.
I was just warning about complacency of which I felt there was a danger of here.
I was trying to be helpful.

That is not a good situation.

I was afraid of a complacency setting in - Saudi does administer corporal punishment more liberally than many may be aware!  I did say I was NOT SURE if debt is punished in this way..... and I wanted to respond before I could find out.
Just be careful!

nigelgodfrey

Yossef, you must agree that corporal punishment is administered more freely  than some people may be aware.
I did say I was not sure if this was a punishment for debt, but has been agreed on this forum, it can more easily incur a jail sentence than many would believe.
I was afraid of a dangerous complacency setting in - and wanted to respond quickly before I had time to actually find out. Of course, even after research, you can never be sure you have found the correct answer!
