Oh, really?  Where did you read that?

I’ve been traveling around the coast of Uruguay in recent weeks -- Colonia del Sacramento, Montevideo, Punta del Este, Atlántida -- and have neither seen nor experienced anything that would lead me to believe that there’s more crime in Uruguay than anywhere else.

Individual, anecdotal reports are unlikely to give a clear, complete picture of the safety of an entire country.

As of the moment, most of the links you provided are “under review” and not accessible, except for the numbeo.com site.

The numbeo website you linked us to is for Montevideo only and does not represent all other places in Uruguay.

If safety is your primary concern, you have lots of places to choose from in Uruguay that are not Montevideo.

In Montevideo, the safer, higher-quality neighborhoods such as Carrasco and Pocitos are probably not represented by the citywide statistics you showed us at numbeo.com
