Living in Tana, an advice is needed

Hi all,

I'm new to the town and just arrived two days ago.

I'm gonna be staying here for a couple of years with the family and looking to rent a house. In relations to that, I have a some questions and will appreciate your advice or your experience sharing.

1. As an expat, do I need to rent the house in the compound or it's safe enough to rent a separate house (which is not a part of the compound). What are the pros and cons?

2. Maybe you can recommend some good neighborhood(s) to live in? The criteria are: security, "green" location, reasonably good connection to the city center or Lycèe Française.

3. I noticed that apartments are more expensive than houses? Why is it so?

I will appreciate any other advice you could give.

And, of course, if you can recommend me some options for rent, I will be very grateful!
