Hi, I have been offered a job in Mauritius.  The basic salary is OK and I will get allowances for car, fuel, phone as well as health care and pension contribution. Before accepting I would like to ask advise as to how negotiable salary packages are in Mauritius in general? Is it common or even expected that the package is being negotiated before accepting?

Many thanks!

Hello,

You can always negotiate salaries anywhere in the world. But I don't think that you should negotiate just for the sake of negotiating.

But in my opinion, all *good* companies will propose an attractive package to an expat as they are aware of the market rates both locally and internationally.

BTW, congratulations and see you soon in paradise! :-)
