Women in riyadh

Post new topic

Tabsy

Hi ladies

Moving to Riyadh to join my husband soon but really wanted to find out as much as I can before I come so that I  know what to expect.

I know women aren't allowed to drive in general outside of compounds but I just wondered what that means in reality. Can I get a taxi by myself to get to where I need to go and are they well regulated and safe?

When my husband is at work would I be able to get to markets to go do my grocery shopping or get to malls to clothes shop and will I be able to get to the gym? Or does my hubby have to accompany me when I go out?

Are there any areas I can go to cycle or practice my photography and will I need a chaperone?

What about eating out? Can I visit some of the good restaurants out there with girl friends and wil I be able to sit with my husband if we go out for a romantic dinner???

Sorry for my ignorance. Hearing conflicting views from people.

Thanks in advance.

YES, NO ISSUES AT ALL.

THIS MAYBE AN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY THE CYCLING PART

THERE ARE DESIGNATED AREAS FOR FAMILIES IN EACH AND EVERY RESTAURANT/ OUTLET.

Fab. Thank you so much for your reply. Seems odd though women are not allowed to drive yet they are able get into a car with a complete stranger. lol
