Dealing with homesickness in Uganda

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Being an expat in Uganda can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in Uganda? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Dear priscilla..
As a Gujarati..I do not have big problem..
There are plenty of shops which are selling products available in my home country..
There are many Gujarati and Indian people working in Uganda.
We celebrate our festivals and we have enough temples and shrines there for spirituality.
In my opinion westerner you are even more privileged.
They are Christians..
Too many church..
As far as if you can adjust more or less most household things are available in Uganda.
What is not available is our family..
Have a very good net pack of orange  network...
Talk to family once in a day....
