Family joining visa

Post new topic

J1987

Hello all,

My husband has got a new job in Oman and yesterday he got his Resident Permit Card. I am planning to join him but we are getting a bit of confusing information from his sponsors. So I would like to get some help with the below points-
1. After getting the resident Permit for the main applicant, Do we have to wait for the certain period of time to apply for family joining visa?
2. Is it mandatory to produce the Bank statements while making the application?
3. Is there any alternative for the family joining visa if we can't get the one soon? I want to join him asap, so would like to explore other visa options.

I would really appreciate if I could get some help on this.

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi J1987,

All that you are worrying about have already been answered at great length in the forum. Suggest you spend some time looking up those similar queries and get all the information you are seeking, plus so much more too.

Find my condensed comments against your queries below :

1. After getting the resident Permit for the main applicant, Do we have to wait for the certain period of time to apply for family joining visa? - 6-months as per the rule. But in some cases the waiting period is 3-months, or lesser, or even none at all. This would depend on the company and the PRO's influencing power ('wasta').
2. Is it mandatory to produce the Bank statements while making the application? - Yes. To show proof of the minimum salary requirements being met, to be eligible for family status.
3. Is there any alternative for the family joining visa if we can't get the one soon? I want to join him asap, so would like to explore other visa options. - Family visit visa can be applied. Valid for 3-months with 1-month extension. But, between visits a minimum waiting period is mandatory - by law - and is flexible as mentioned in point no. 1.

Hi,
For family joining visa,
Minimum salary should be OMR 600
Minimum waiting time is 3 months
A Rent agreement on your husband name
Marriage certificate

It doesn't take much time here to get family joining visa (it hardly takes 2-3 days after submitting the completing appication.

Other option is you can come here on visit visa for 3 months and then on family joining visa.
But any of the case rent agreement is required.

Hi,

No need to wait time for family visa joining, if you have all your document ready as per ROI website family joining sections. But if your husband's sponsors/company doesn't allow the family visa for some specific time duration as per their policy (informed or not informed to your husband while his hiring), then you have to wait for Family joining visa. Alternate is already mentioned by someone to join as visiting family member first and then work on family joining permanent visa.

Check with your husband if his company have some policy or rule that they dont process family visa for first 3 or 6 months. This might be because they have hired expat and they keep most of the expat in probation periods so they know they have hired the right person and if they continue the expat job after probation period they are fine to allow the family as well. As most of the time company pay for family visa etc etc and post probation spouses are laid off due to their bad performance, that actually giving companies expense loss done on employee and his family.

If no such rule, no probation and company still worried spending on family, your husband may reach his company with option of bearing all expenses for family visa such as visa fees, documentation and ticket fees and with mutual consent they might put their PRO to work for your case.

Hi Bilal ashraf81,

To be eligible for family status, an expatriate must be earning a minimum sum of R.O. 600/- as monthly salary.

Else, there is no other option for a permanent family visa.
