You will find most of the information you need by searching on this site. You will also find the BOI site very clear about your options.

Hello,

You will need an 'Occupation Permit' delivered by the Board of Investment, an executive arm of the government pertaining to foreign employment, residence and investors' issues.

Hi

Depending on your situation, yu but might need to use the schemes of the Board of investment but possibilities are not limited to these only. There's another scheme operated by the Ministry of labour also.

Briefly with BOI, you have the following

Investor : minimum investment of USD100,000 and minimum turnover criteria
Self-employed : USD35,000 investment in minimum, qualified person in q liberal profession and minimum turnover of Rs600,000
Professional worker : Rs30,000 minmum salary if in IT sector. Other sectors, Rs60,000 a month
Retired : USD40,000 to be transferred per year for your personal expenses. Age minimum 50 for the main application. Permanent residence available after three years.

Hope these first hand information help.

Hi manxmanners,

Bear in mind that Occupation and Residence permit application under the aegis of the Board of Investment is applicable for Professionals while the Labour Office deals with work permit which is a different scheme for other skills.
