Teaching English

You're a native speaker so that's a plus... Do you have a teaching certificate of any kind?

Dreadlocks are viewed as an oddity but it may depend on how tidy you look overall Some schools are a little picky about that but there are schools that are pretty relaxed. One female teacher, at the school where I'm working right now, has got dreadlocks.

My advice is to cut them off, unless you're not worried about finding a job quickly.

M2cw on appearance and applying for a job. Personally I’d lose the dreadlocks. I have found the more properly you look the better for not just the interview but while your also working. Get more respect. That being said, I wouldn’t cut them and wear a suit to the interview, get the job and then start growing them back and begin wearing  tee-shirts and cut offs to work. If you want the locks and feel they are important to your appearance and style keep them, just remember you might look cool when your out and about at night, but you’re a few steps behind the other guy that also had an interview that day  and didn’t have them. Thanks guys, very helpful. i will prob cut them before i arrive. For the first question, i am a native English speaker,  have recently graduated from university with a bachelors degree in politics and french (so theoretically i could teach basic French as well). However i do not have a teaching certificate such as TEFOL or TEFL. Does that put me at a disadvantage or is have a bachelors degree enough to "easily" find a job., in other words, does demand for English teachers out way the supply of them in Vietnam.

Im currently work for a language sch in Hanoi, Languagelink Vietnam.

Here at my sch, if you're native English speaker and have a bachelor degree, you're qualified to teach English. It still depends on interviews . Base on its outcome, sch may or maynot require you to take a short course for those teaching cert.
