Property prices in Berlin

Hello everyone,

Finding affordable housing in Berlin is number one priority for newcomers. Tell us more about the estate market in your district/city/region.

What are the most desired places to live? What are the most affordable ones? What is the average cost of a rented flat? And what is the average sale price for an appartment or a house? Could you tell us more about local real estate policies/procedures? What about property tax or residency tax in Berlin?

What about you? Where do you live now? Is it a place you would recommend?

Thank you in advance for your clarifications.

Priscilla

I didn't what's the most affordable neighborhood right now but Wedding should be still a good option. If you are lucky you still get cheap apartments in Mitte sometimes if the "WG" (shared flat) has an old contract. Also quite cheep is still Neukölln the area close to the S-TRain ring. The fanciest places are a matter of past I would say. But "Helmholzplatz" in Prenzlauer Berg, Bergmansraße in Kreuzberg and Boxhagener in Friedrichshain are very nice.

Hi Priscilla,
the most sought-after places are definetely Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg,  Mitte and Neukölln which is less expensive actually either for rent or for buying an apatment.
