Property prices in Nigeria

Post new topic

Hello everyone,

Finding affordable housing in Nigeria is number one priority for newcomers. Tell us more about the estate market in your district/city/region.

What are the most desired places to live? What are the most affordable ones? What is the average cost of a rented flat? And what is the average sale price for an appartment or a house? Could you tell us more about local real estate policies/procedures? What about property tax or residency tax in Nigeria?

What about you? Where do you live now? Is it a place you would recommend?

Thank you in advance for your clarifications.

Priscilla

Good day Priscilla,
Thank you for your concern about real estate market in Abuja, Nigeria.
The market is going up and down in 2016 with quantities of estates pulled over the market whenever the country is in recession and the Naira is fluctuating a lot.

However the quality and maintenance of housing is low and you better check the ability of the landlords to follow-up on running the house you are forecasting to rent.
Not that many estates are matching the needs of expatriates for 24h/365days Electricity and Security, not to speak about accessibility, small repairs, cleanliness and finishing.

So first concern is: are you allowed to live outside town or do you have to find accommodation inside town? For the same property you may have to pay 2 times more inside town, depending on the district.

Have a great week ahead,
Yours sincerely,
Yves
