Good evening,

I have recently applied for a role with an international company and their office is at Petronas Towers.

The job was advertised on Seek.com in Australia, so I would assume they were looking for an Australian or Australian experienced person.

I have now been contacted to arrange Skype interview.

I would appreciate if anyone could answer my questions re: following:

1. What is the visa / immigration process

2. What areas I should look for accommodation - furnished studio/1 bedroom apartment close to Petronas Towers and what should I expect to pay

3. Tax rates

1. Speaking from my own experience, the visa process is horribly slow, but mine is a bit different (it took much much longer than the normal). From the people I have asked, I conclude that the normal visa process (Employment Pass/EP) is about 3 months! It also depends on your role, people say Tech (IT) roles are easier to get the EP. It also depends on the company, have they hired a foreigner before? If they have, then they should be more experience in handling the process, if not, I suspect the process will be longer.

2. Expect to pay around MYR2,500 - MYR3,500 for furnished studio apartment around PETRONAS Towers.

3. Tax rates, for the first 182 days within the same calendar year, you will be taxed at a flat rate of 28%!! So, negotiate well! After that, it will be progressive tax, see this for details: http://www.hasil.gov.my/bt_goindex.php? … bt_sequ=11

Thanks the position is in Recruitment and for an international company.

I was more interested in exact steps regarding visa... like what kind of medical, where, how, etc...
