I have an O visa good for 90 days. I want to acquire an OA visa within that 90 day period. Does anyone know for sure if I will need the background check and medical form if I am applying from within Thailand. I was told that it would not be required since I would already be in Thailand.

From what I've been told the background check is not required in Thailand. I did apply for an O visa in April. When I came back in September they required a current, within 30 days, report. Even so the medical is no big deal and may cost as little as 50 baht.
You could ask assistthaivisa.com. They are an immigration service, commercial, and they handle all visa's all of the time.

Thanks Bill.

An OA visa is only issued at embassy/consulate in you home country.

If you want an OA visa I assume its for retirement purpose.  Since you have an O visa a couple weeks before it expires apply for extension for retirement purpose.

I arrived some years back with an O visa and I applied for extension for retirement purpose about 10 days before O expired.  Just make sure you have all the requirements met before you apply.
