Hi,I'm Angelo. I'm planning to work in Kokopo soon. I want to ask regarding salary tax rates. Do expats with dependents have deductions on their income tax?
Any feedback on life in Kokopo, regarding safety and establishments, churches?
I will be earning 2000 Kina after taxes with free transportation and accomodation. I know its low but it's better than working at home.
How much would living monthly costs me? I'm would be cooking.
Thanks.

Kabagis:

Life here Kokopo is quiet laidback.  You are from Baguio means from cold place coming here to a very warm place.

Hence, 1 kilogram of rice is equivalent to Php 75.00 per kilogram.  Most of the goods here are imported, sugar is equivalent to Php 300 for 500 grams.

The K 2,000.00 per month is quiet low unless your food is free since you will be working as a cook.  May I know your employer?

By the way there is not much PUJ available.  You should ask for a transportation and the accommodation here for three bedroom is equivalent to Php 45,000.00 per month.  Electricity is Php 15.75 per hour.  Internet is very expensive.
