Hello Everyone,

I'm from Kenya. Been working in Kuwait for almost 4 years as an Accountant. Want to move to Doha as my family are over there. Anyone can hook me up with something? I'd be honoured.

tkinok74

Hello. I am Tracey from the United States. I am planning to relocate to Doha, hopefully very soon. Therefore I'm looking to learn all I can about it so that I can be prepared for what to expect and how best to function there. I look forward to getting to know people here and learning from one another as we travel down the Expat path together!

aziz12377

Hi miss , welcome to Doha in advance.
And if you don't mind ,may I ask you the reason for relocating to Doha ??
I would be glad to share and guide , experience of Doha .

Angelinabashir

Hey there,
Do you know where abouts you will be moving to in Qatar?

tkinok74

Hello Aziz!
I am moving there because a very good friend encouraged me to, for the job opportunities. That friend is Jordanian and has been living and working in Qatar for 11 years now. I'm excited and hope I do as well as they have.
Thank you for offering your help, I'm certain I'll have many questions.

tkinok74

Angelina, I'll be living in Doha. The job I'm most likely closing a contract on, has housing included. I hope it's located in a good spot!  :top:

Angelinabashir

Ah sounds brilliant, Doha generally is well connected and easy to get to the fun places from there.
Anything else, give us a shout. X

Vasilantzas

Hello everyone
My name is Vasilis (Vas) originally from Greece, but have spent most of my life in the UK. I've been in Doha for a couple of months now working in HGH and I'll be honest, to begin with I hated it. Now I'm getting used to it and finding my way around and starting to enjoy myself. Doha seems a great place once you accept certain differences. If anyone is interested in meeting up let me know. It seems hard to meet people here, especially Western (not that I have anything against anyone else) . I'm mostly into going to the gym (got membership at Aspire, so any gym buddies more than welcome), eating out (the food here is excellent and very cheap), coffee and shisha (coffee very hit and miss and surprisingly expensive) and dog training (although my dogs haven't come with me, yet).

aziz12377

Sure ping me up

Ahmad fox

What is your profession Mrs Tracey ?

tkinok74

I am a Paralegal and currently manager of the law office where I work, also.

Robert Ransford

My name is Robert Ransford,

I am a specialist Oil and Gas Valve Technician for a company in Scotland called Pacson valves. At Pacson I am part of a small team of specialist technicians that are responsible for the safe assembly and test of all PR2 & 17D qualification valves. I am responsible for the safe testing i.e hydro and gas, hyperbaric and atmospheric and dynamic temperature of specific procedures written for all qualification valves.I work very closely with our design engineers as part of these works and report to them as part of the qualification process. As part of the qualification process there is alot of report writing and procedure writing I.e s.o.p's and build procedures which I am directly involved with. I have been here for four years and really want a new and exciting experience. I lived in Cairo for 3 years and have visited Doha twice.

aziz12377

What kind of experience you need to have brother?

aziz12377

Why not sure let's meet up.

Robert Ransford

I am still in Scotland this is the only obstacle in our way!

aziz12377

Okay , dont worry take your time , i will be waiting..

Robert Ransford

Is this a joke?

aziz12377

No it's not. i m serious

Robert Ransford

Are you an employer of valve technicians? What is your company?

vishalambaliya

Rayneflower

Greetings all,

I have accepted a job teaching in Al Khor (Khawr) Qatar and will be relocating to Qatar from the U.S. in about 4 weeks.  The most recent places I've traveled include Uganda & Jamaica and I have many friends in those locations.  I am hoping to make new friends in Qatar as well.  I appreciate any advice you can give me that will help me adjust to life in Qatar and if anyone is working and/or living in Al Khor I would especially like to hear from you.  I'm packing now so any advice on what to bring will be helpful as well. Thank you so much!

baskarvp

Hi Pankaj ,,,,,

Where are you staying by the way ... i am Baskar from Tamil nadu

tkinok74

Hello Rayneflower,
I arrived just yesterday in Doha and I have no advice on what to pack, since I'm uncertain myself about what I brought (it's not been enough time to see if I chose wisely or not). But I can tell you one thing right away. Plan to change to a local SIM card for your phone quickly. My phone will not work here at all.

Rayneflower

Thank you tkinot for your response and welcome to Doha. 😊 Please keep me updated on your experience.  I am scheduled to travel there in 4 weeks.

tkinok74

I had my trip scheduled for a couple months and had to delay it twice, for various reasons (most recently, receipt of the documents I would need once I arrived here). But finally, I was able to come. The first thing that shocks you is the weather. The temperature here is similar to back at home but the humidity, it's like stepping into a sauna when you walk out of the airport doors onto the street where the cars wait. The food so far has been wonderful. And the city is beautiful at night. Go and see the Corniche when you arrive here. It's lovely!

CloeAR24

Hi Rayneflower, my husband will be starting a new job at the same school as you at the end of August, we are coming from the U.K. Will you be relocating alone or with family? We look forward to meeting you! Also how safe are expats feeling in Qatar currently? Are people worried about terrorist attacks over there? Thanks!

Rayneflower

Greetings Cloe,

I'm excited to touch bases with someone connected to where I will be. I am initially traveling alone, with my family to follow later. None of my friends in Qatar or UAE are concerned about attacks of any kind as there is significantly less violence in Qatar and UAE than there is in U.K. and America.  Hopefully, the diplomatic crisis affecting the area will be resolved soon. I look forward to meeting you in Al Khor.

Safe Journey

Basios

Welcome to Doha, lucky that u didn't get humidity shock.. wish u best of luck and enjoy Doha as the safest place :-)
