I was looking to see what people used to call US landlines from Kuwait.

During my last international assignment (Hungary) we used our Skype subscription to have a Texas based number attached to our account so family could call without international charges, etc.

Google results tell me this might not work in Kuwait, so I guess my question is twofold:

Can I use a skype account to call landlines in the US from Kuwait?

If not, what other options are available?

Skype will work just fine. While Skype web page is blocked, the service itself is not. Lately I have been using Viber more than Skype...

Try Magic Jack, for under 15 USD a year you will get a US based number that works the same way as Skype does on your smart phone.
