Hello Everyone,

I want to get information on taxes and social security contribution in Germany for students.

I am currently working in a organization, in which my contract is not mini-job contract but i am earning less than 450 Euro per month, but my employer is deducting taxes (Lohnsteuer) as well as Social Contribution (Soli.-Zuschlag) from my salary every month.

I want to ask that, is this amount is refundable, as i have not signed the specific contract of mini-job but i am earning less then 450 Euro. Furthermore, is social security contribution is applicable on the amount i am earning right now as it is well below par as per 450 Euro Mini job criteria.

Thanks in advance for your time and guidelines.

Your employer is probably making a mistake here: Jobs below EUR450/month do not incur income tax and social deductions!
Seek clarification from the employer - if it was their mistake, they must reimburse you (even if not, you can get the taxes back by submitting a tax declaration after the end of the year - but NOT the social contributions!). If the employer is not cooperative, seeks a lawyer's advice.
