Traveling to Schengen Country with passport expiring

Post new topic

Bjoseph

Hello,

I'm a Filipino with all legal documents here in Italy (Permesso di Soggiorno and Carta Identità). Im planning a trip to Amsterdam and Paris on February . I would like to know if I will be allowed to travel/enter to Netherlands and France with my current passport which expires on March 7?

Thanks in advance :)

Christine

Hi Bjoseph,

Have you contacted the embassy to know if it is possible?

Bjoseph

Hello Christine! Yes, I have contacted the France and Netherlands embassy here in Rome but only the Netherlands answered my email. They said as a general rule, passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond the period of intended stay. However, there is an exemption for residents of Schengen member states (in my case Italy). Passports and other documents accepted for entry issued to residents of Schengen Member States must be valid on arrival. This means that my permesso di soggiorno and carta identita, will be required in connection with my passport to be able to enter the Netherlands.

Im not sure if it applies for France too, I still have to call to the embassy.
