Speaking Ovambo in Namibia

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

It is widely agreed that speaking Ovambo is essential for a successful integration in Namibia. Do you agree? Share your experience!

Do you speak Ovambo? If so, where did you learn this language? Where can one attend a language course in Namibia?

If not, how do you cope with daily activities? Is it easy to communicate in a different language with Namibians?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi Priscilla,
I think Namibia is  a culturally diverse country, however speaking one or two or any of the local language would be highly appreciated and increase the chances of fast integration to the community. The fact that Oshiwambo speaking people are the majority of the population also is advantageous as well as showing the sense of being integrated to the society but this does not mean other local languages are of no value, all locals languages are equally important and should be appreciated.I am also looking for any class that offer any of the local language here in the beautiful country that we call Namibia. Thanks!
Regards
Zab

Hi Zab,

Thank you for your precious feedback.

Concerning your search, maybe you could drop an advert in the Namibia classifieds under the language classes section so that you might get an offer.

All the very best,
Bhavna
