183 day ruling!!!

Post new topic

Liz Boath

I am aware of the 183 day ruling regarding being classed as resident/non resident. If you happen to exceed the number of days without personally advising the authorities  who and how would they establish this matter?

Basically they can't as there are no records of entry/ exit for EU nationals but if you do one of the things you should/shouldn't as a resident/ non resident it's surprising how the authorities could, if they wished, find you out.

Thanks for your prompt response. The reason I am asking is that my Insurance company picked up on my timescale when I made a claim. Also I guess any excess to the 183 days would invalidate your insurance cover. I had to produce copies of all my flight details to them. Seems as if the authorities are closing in on all directions.
