Greetings,

I would like to get some opinions & comments on where the best year-round weather conditions are in Vietnam ...

A Western mate of mine is looking at a VN retirement. He in their 50's, ex-professor, divorced, healthy, outdoor type, moderately well-funded (budget < $1200/month), not really into bars (but a few weekend 'cold ones' are planned!), not particularly thinking about getting married to a VN girl/lady (but local friendly available gals are welcome to introduce themselves - with children or not!), beach & mountains for morning hikes & exercise, occasional golf, boating, biking, fishing, etc.

I have heard that Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Vung Tau lead the list of VN retirement places.

Are there other places to consider outside of Saigon & Hanoi for the lifestyle described above ?

Thank you!

Da Lat has the best climate in my opinion, its why the french spent so much time up there. Problem is that it's quite remote and last time I went, the roads were still full of potholes and buses drove quite dangerously up the mountain roads. Wouldn't want to retire up there.

Midland in Vietnam seems to be the best choice : Da Nang, or some provinces like Nha Trang, Da Lat as they are province close beach & mountain so climate is much comfortable. Da Lat is also a good choice

Best to get your friend to visit the places mentioned and see what he likes. Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa are also nice. To get all the things you listed, places like Nha Trang and Da Nang fill that criteria.

The only way is for your friend to come to Vietnam, look around, and decide for himself. Some foreigners end up in very out of the way places and like it. It's entirely up to your friend. Which place suits him is his choice.

I chose Nha Trang for its climate, facilities, beaches, mountain streams, and lovely people.
