Gravitas, I saw your posts about Malaysian marriages of last year and think your broad knowledge might be a lead to answer my question.

Is there any means of verifying via phone call, e-mail, or online to determine if someone has gotten married in Kuala Lumpur?

I'm A Foreigner working in Malaysia. I want to marry a malay girl. Any one can help me regarding process steps or any mirage lawyer can help me please.

Gravitas

Join Facebook group "Foreign Spouses Support Group Malaysia" and check under their notes section

If you have a Foreign Worker temporary employment pass it's not possible to marry in most States. I think you have to leave Malaysia then re-enter when marriage paperwork  has been completed for the ceremony.

Eric_enie

I need help for this

Anas

Hello @ Eric_enie  :)

It would be great if you could introduce yourself first so other members can know you better.
Also, can you be more specific about your questions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, i saw your post i do need some help about marriage here in Malaysia can? Thx

Gravitas

Rules are different depending which State the marriage will take place.

Eric_enie

Currently i already settle all the document at wisma putrajaya and kln putrajaya.. and i already summit the letter to penang jpn... they will input my detail in computer and produre a letter for me to marry.. they say need to wait 21 day only can register and sign marry... is it need to wait 21 day? Because my wife from thailand.. passport not enough day to stay in malaysia for so many day.. and i need apply visa also..

Gravitas

Yes that is correct, it's 21 days after applying for Marriage Ceremony permission the earliest can marry.

The permission is valid for several months, so you could return and marry later.

You may still have to be in Malaysia for 7 days before the ceremony can take place - but this you need to double check.

Eric_enie

Because my wife return to hatyai many chop already on her passport.. she always need to pay undertable.. not same in airport..

Hi just want to ask also can both foreign people get marry here in malaysia,im a christian but my boyfriend is muslim he is pakistani can we get marry here in malaysia with me no need to convert into islam thanks

Gravitas

If you come to Malaysia for minimum  7 days and during that time get your paperwork approved you could marry after marriage license is issued. The license requires 7 days residence and is valid for 6 months.

AmaniLim

In Malaysia, when you want to marry a Muslim, convert is a must. I myself has to go through that process.

Gravitas

What freedoms have to be given up when converting to Islam?

Carlica29

Hello, i just like to know if it is possible for me and my fiance to get married in Malaysia?

We are both Filipino, I am an expat for 5yrs - single and my Fiance is a Permanent resident in Canada divorced under Canadian Law, his marriage was not yet annuled in the Philippines.

Is it fine if he only has his divorced certificate under Canadian Law? Or do we need to process this first under Philippine law to be recognize? Thank you..

ROMANA UP4DANCE

Hi we got married in Langkawi and we are both from the Holland.. I think the best thing is to get in touch with a wedding planner. They would know best which way is the best for your case. As it is different for every country. I do know you need documents such a original birth certificate, legalised document stating the divorces, the current single status, good citizenship. And I would say all would have to be documented in the Filipenes because that is the country of birth/where your fiancé's first marriage was documented...?

Carlica29

Thank you..

GraceZe

@amanilim, can you pm me?

Nemodot

Carlica29 divorces in one country are legal in all. You cant divorce again! Same with marriages.

As for Malaysia anything is possible for a price and or finding the right priest-imam etc. Little things like the law are often irrelevant anyway in Malaysia or most of SE Asia.
