can someone on a tourist visa buy a car in Indonesia?
what is the procedure if buying from an individual ? what document are needed ?

Cash talks but the licence is harder work and is only valid as long as your visa.
You'll need to make sure you get the registration document (Checking the tax is paid up to date) and the police book, making sure the address you buy it from is the address on the reg doc.
The reg doc is a tax thing, but the police book defines ownership so you have to make sure you get it.
