How many months past 26 can I be to become an Au Pair in USA?

Hi,

I am looking at becoming an Au Pair in the USA after finishing my studies.

I see a lot of resources on the internet state that you must be between 18 and 26.

Does anybody know if somebody can be, for example, 26 and 9 months etc? As there doesn't seem to be any specific advice on this on the actual american government website for the J1 au pair visa in relation to this.

Thanks! :)

I would think that you have until you turn 27.  Sounds like you have very little time left.

Yes, but there is no official information on this and I would have to be absolutely sure, as it will affect the employment options I explore here in my home country until I am ready to leave.

Is there anybody that knows the answer to this absolutely, or could point me in the direction of an official source?

This website says that the maximum age is 26 and 4 months, but does not cite a source for this information, and is not an official government website.

Thanks :)

Contact the US Embassy for a definitive answer, as they will have to issue the J-1 Visa.
