Can someone perhaps help?

We have been considering to move to Mauritius as retirees at the end of the year.  Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer last year.  I had Sigmoid Colectomy to remove the tumor, but I am on chemo for liver metastases as it has spread to the liver.  The medical insurance co's I contacted, either don't want to give me any cover, or exclude cover for anything cancer related.  If we succeed in securing medical aid, excluding any cancer related costs, will I have to carry all costs myself for any cancer related treatment or is there state hospitals where I can be treated if necessary?

Hi,

State healthcare is free for Mauritian citizens only and in some cases will waive the cost for expats for minor treatment only.

For cancer related issues, you will have to bear the cost yourself or get a health insurance plan.

These are the two of the best hospitals on the island.
