Do we need to have residency in order to rent an apartment ?

Post new topic

Hi,

We are planning to arrive in Qatar with my husband who would start working in mid April.
Do you know if he has to have a residency in order to rent an apartment?
My aim is to rent the apartment as soon as possible while staying at a hotel.
I need to know if we have to wait his ID to come.

Thanks!

The major problem with renting is the fact that you need to deposit rent checks in advance, and you can't have a chequing account without an ID.
So you have 2 solutions, one is to arrange with the real estate agent or the landlord to accept a lump sum payment for the year that you will need to provide (They will love the idea but you may not like it) the other is to ask the company or a friend to guarantee you in front of the landlord and for them to place the 13 cheques (12 months + safety).

Good luck

thank you very much!
