Government schools for foreign children

Hi all
Apologies if this is covered in the forum but I have not been able to find it.

I would like to know if foreign children can attend government schools or are they only allowed to go to international or private schools.

I have had conflicting advice in this regard.

Wouldnt recommend a government school. No one even bothers to ask this question because of the wide range of international schools that suit different budgets.
