I there a universal number - like 911 in the USA - to call for emergency services like police, fire fighters or ambulance - in Nairobi or elsewhere in Kenya?

Yes ... ish

112 or 999, but neither appear to be very efficient.  In reality get to know the number of your local police station, or a key officer there.

This link gives details of ambulance/fire/police numbers in the Nairobi area.  Bear in mind that ambulance services are quite thinly spread and they cost too!

Many of us have security, so would activate the alarm in case of an emergency.  The security company would then know how to respond.

Thanks Fred.
