Did you make any mistakes when you first moved to Fiji? What were they?
How did you address your mistakes? Did you learn anything from them?
With hindsight, what would you do differently?
Are there any tips you could give future expats in Fiji to help them avoid these kinds of mistakes?

Some mistakes we made at first:
- being naïve and taking the first rental that we saw instead of researching the market properly and looking at a lot of options to see how much places should cost
- we lost a lot of money by signing up to a year lease of what we thought was a 'cheap' house according to our standards at home, but in reality we were being severely ripped off
-hot water and water pressure - make sure you check that your shower has hot water - we've had a few that haven't and despite it being a tropical country - a hot shower is very nice especially in the winter
- water pressure and washing machines - check what connection your washing machine needs before you buy it - some places do not have enough water pressure to facilitate using a modern auto washing machine
