hi all,
I live in Milano and my passport is recently expired and I already submitted to consulate for renewal.
I want to ask is that can I travel to other Schengen countries without having passport.
I have only my permesso di soggiorno valid and carta di identitta with me.

so please help with comments that is it possible for me to travel within Schengen countries or not.

thanks in advance.

Personally, I would not attempt to travel without a passport, especially with recent terror attacks security is very high and there are spot checks at borders across Europe.

I am only a resident in the schengen zone, so I dont know for experience, however I think that if your  documents are valid you can travel in the zone unless special restrictions from the country governement

With a permesso di soggiorno and an ID, normally, you can travel in all over Schengen area. There are a lot of permesso di soggiorno holders who haven't passeport. After, yes, at some boarders, there are more controls.

But, in the facts, if his permesso is valable, he can travel. But, we are agree, in the facts.

Ask to Embassies of countries where you want to go to know and to be sure.

However, as Indian, you are not considered as a potential terrorist.
