Any creative Art/Design activities or community in Penang?

I work in a design field and find Malaysia sorely lacking for what I would be looking for, based on your post. If we can stay in touch with each other, I'll try to find a person, a retired gentleman who knows 100% of everything in Penang, including art/design. I lost his info but i'll see what I can do.

But art/design here is ....well....maybe a bit different that what you might expect. Example, I'm not really interested in joining a professional association for RM2000 per year, a group that doesnt even meet regularly or anything. I'm looking for like-minded people to hang around with and bounce ideas; i'm looking for a vibrant design community of people on the move and appreciate and know whats happening in the world and want to talk about it and do stuff. Im not into crafts, like beading,  like many locals and expats here. The majority of "art/design" here is graphic art students who do childish work. Its sad.

it would be helpful to know what you are into and looking for exactly.

In addition, if you sign up to  the Penang Free Sheet there are always activities being announced, from exhibitions to interactive workshops, including ones at Hin Bus Depot and Artysip in Nagore Square. https://www.facebook.com/hinbusdepot/ Currently there is an event called "Art Jam" until 28/5.

Hi CVCO, I appreciated what you told. We can meet up since we work in the same field if you do not mind. You can tell me about Malaysia design trend, and we can exchange ideas together. I think there are plenty here in Penang but we haven't found them yet. Look forward to your reply soon.
