Hi All, just joined today and trying to find my away around.
My Husband and I live in the UK. My Husband is originally from LA and after spending many years here he and I are ready for the big move.
We were wondering if you can give us advice, we are currently surfing the housing market in Las Vegas and have pin pointed the area of Henderson. Maybe you ex pats have other area ideas.
All help is very much appreciated.
Thanks x

Lilredleo

Henderson Nevada's really nice it's a nice family area. If you're looking something more close to Vegas I recommend North Vegas my brother lives there currently and it's absolutely stunning and he has four children. Him and his wife work both and they have a lovely five bedroom home.

Yankette

Thanks for that Lilreleo.

I will look into North Vegas.
We are not bothered about living too close to the centre. We lived in London for many years and like to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main City life. But we would like to be close enough to take a drive if we wanted a change.

Bob K

I like Henderson.   Close enough but far enough away from the "down town" that it give you a nice suburban feel.

Hi,

I'm a US national, born in India to American parents working there. I grew up in India and worked there as an adult, too. I've also worked 5 years in China and 2 years in Vietnam.

My brother, a widower, married an Indian woman on his second marriage, and now lives with her in India! I visited them during Tet two years ago and plan to go again in 2020.

Now, I get to retire (yay!) and will be living in Seattle, WA, USA. Open to questions about life in Asia and in the USA. I've lived in Minneapolis for 22 years and in the Los Angeles area for about 10 years.

Lennerd

lifebythedrop11

Hey Lennerd. I live 60 miles south of Seattle. I am headed to India in15 days.

Gerald Bailey

Happy Independence day. Looking at moving to Arizona from Cape Town South Africa with my family. We are Italian citizens. Any suggestions on the correct procedure?

lifebythedrop11

See immigration website. Arizona was 112 degrees yesterday. And thank you July 4th USA declared it's independence from England's king. July 4th did not become a national holiday until 1941. I live near Seattle Washington all my life. I'm moving to India in 14 days. Are you looking to work, visit, or permanent residency? Either way you will have to file the appropriate paperwork for the type of visa you want.
A tourist visa
A work visa
A school visa
A volunteering/religious visa
A medical visa

Tracy welcome to America i apologize for trump majority didn't vote for him

Gerald Bailey

Yes work and live

lifebythedrop11

Hi, My name is Colin. I'm an American based in New York City, but have lived abroad many times.

I'm the CEO of [link moderated] I joined the forum because I've lived abroad many times, and I remember how difficult it is to build a new life and find work. If anyone needs any assistance on their resumes or just general advice on how to land jobs in America, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I want to be as valuable as possible. Thanks!

Juliendc

Hello C.Brown,

I'm Julien and I joined the expat community because I lived in the States for 9 years and even though I was younger I know what s like to be away from home. I m now back home here in France, living in Lyon and currently in the process of finishing my current job position. I realized that ever since I got back from the states, I haven't been able to utilize my international background at work.
Thus, this is hopefully another way to reach out to people who would be interested in working with people like myself.
Feel free to give me your feedback If you want to check out my resume.

take care

Julien

Hi Expats,

Last year our company decided to branch out not only due to political uncertainty but also because of a recession which recently confirmed its second quarter of negative growth. Spreading activities geographically seemed the solution in mitigating some of that risk. The US, being the worlds largest economy, seemed the right place to explore.

And so last month with the advise of our Immigration Attorney we commenced the L1-A Visa process. Fulfillment towards the Visa is extensive and time consuming. Currently we are traveling thru the Southern States to set up Office and hopefully acquire an existing business within our scope.

The US is a great place and  enjoying every moment. It is however lonely with few people to consult. And so there you have it, in a nutshell, on an expedition exploring the unknown for a better tomorrow, all in God's hands.

Mopat

Hi All.  I am a consulting engineer and math educator.  Love to travel and meet new people & experience new cultures.
