I have heard that this coming Saturday was declared a Public Holiday. Anybody can confirm this?

yes, I too heard it, however, there is some confusion as some got the NEWS and some not, however I would guess this is only for Saudi nationals and most the expatriates would work as put in this NEWS item. so far we didnt got any info, so we r  working unless we get some info by Friday night/Saturday morning. :|http://arabnews.com/saudiarabia/article281741.ece

The holiday has been declared for Government organizations and Schools only and not the private sector.

sorry to burst your bubble, but no, the news specifically stated that only schools and government offices will be having their holiday. Private sector is not included, unless there is another announcement within today we will be working. Cheers.

Our college is private but the Principal gave the faculty and students off.  Our particular college administrators follow the spirit of the proclamation, even if technically they don't have to. Of course, I'm just seeing this thread now and it was yesterday so it's all old news.  I'm quite surprised if there is any univ/college/school whose adminsitrators don't follow the spirit of any royal proclamation. It was nice to not have to set my alarm clock yesterday.  If you work for a corporate entity (non-teaching), then not sure how they work holidays and misc. royal proclamations such as this one.
