only offer without a contract

I have a work visit visa , I am here since may 2017, I received an offer signed by me and employer but I never received a contract.
Is it legal to work without contract?

Agency in your country should have arranged the contract and shall be checked on arrival here.
Ask around, are you the only one without contract. Having a contract is your legal right and you will have to push them to prepare a contract for you. But if everyone have no contract then there is something wrong.

We are 3 in the same situation, every time I send email (4) to ask for my contract,they ignored my email.
I received my salary by cheque
