Hello everyone,

Why did you choose to retire in the USA? What are the advantages compared with your home country?

What were your main considerations when deciding to move? For example, taxes, ease of transferring your pension, etc..

Are there any specific formalities you had to go through as a retiree moving to the USA (for example, is there a particular retirement visa)?

What is the USA's healthcare like? Have you had any good or bad experiences dealing with healthcare professionals?

Do you have any tips for other retirees in the USA?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

There is no retire visa, employment based visas end with the employment and investor visas mean you have to actively run a successful business.

Green Card or US citizenship are it.

Foreign pensions: you are dealing with exchange rates and how to get the money to the US, some countries apply penalties.

Medical care: my personal experience is that it is considerably better then in Europe but you need good insurance

US Social Security: I will be netting almost double compared to Europe, considerable benefits for senior citizens some of which start at 50 from retail store discounts to property tax.

Professional: you are not being considered a moss back once you reach retirement eligibility

Challenging question for me. I have to work 3 or 8 years more to qualify for ss benefits. I actually don't count to stop working, but may be changing the field ? Yes, I do think to do it. I am working slowly on something more mobile for this time.
In general you should count on 2 or 3 income streams in case to be comfortable when things slow down for you. It is very individual of course.
Places to retire? US is a large country itself, with different opportunities and states'  :) standards of living. There are many other places in this world you can feel comfortable as well. Can't tell more, but accepting any suggestions.

I decided to go back to the US because in the Philippines, I have a lot of relatives, I have to support!
I am not a rich person, I am not suffering from helping a few individuals, but I just cannot afford to take care of all my relatives and neighbors needs! That is why I prefer to stay here in the USA!!
Over here, I have privacy and that's what I need!  May I ask where are you from?

Kind of surprised that you wish to retire in the USA with a fixed income and a health care system no one is sure about.
Cost of living wise, Mississippi, Missouri may be a viable option.
Have you thought of retiring in the Far East?    You will be a rich person even with your fixed Social Security or Retirement income.
Food for thought.

Why would I want to go through the visa process in the Far East and be sitting on an ejection seat?
