Working in Ireland

Post new topic

Hi all. I am a South African citizen and would like to move to Ireland. I am a highly qualified teacher with several degrees. I understand that teaching is on the Critical Skills list and I need a written job offer to apply for a work permit. Does anyone know of a good recruitment agency that can assist me with this?

Hope to hear back soon  :)

HI I am surprised to hear teachers are on the critical skills list. I just spoke to a friend who is a teacher and from what I understand its some crazy affair with how teachers are granted posts. Many teachers are in temporary posts, waiting for gaps to become permanent and it also depends on the area you iive.  As for agency, I would not know of any. Often with nursing jobs people can apply directly to the hospitals but teachers not really. Not sure how you will get a position here and how you can go about it. Maybe if you write to the education ministry? Is there anyway at the irish embassy in south africa that they can advice you.?
