Relocation to costa rica

Post new topic

Ronam

hey,
My English at Google TransLate So sorry in advance for spelling errors.

Hello everyone, My wife and I are interested in moving to Costa Rica We are coming in February to take a trip all over Central America So on the way we will look at Costa Rica. I have a few questions you might be able to help me with.
1. We are interested in opening a nice little hostel and what about its cost (in the area being rented) and whether there is usually good money from tourism here.
2. We are also interested in buying / renting an apartment in the hostel area +
3. Is it safe to live and become a business owner in Costa Rica? (Safe from robbery or kidnapping).

If you haven't done so already, you may want to read about the rules and regs for living and working here.

I would appreciate the cost of establishing a tourist tourism hostel and apartment prices
Before I begin the whole process of issuing a visa and a work permit
Thanks.

Personally I believe it would very difficult for  anyone to provide a true quote as it will depend on location, building materials used and quality...,

Thousands of rooms are available for tourists to rent now, through companies such as airbnb,VRBO, flipkey, etc....many sitting vacant for extended periods of time.

Hola Ronam,

Welcome to Expat.com!

Regarding your first two questions, I would suggest that you look under the housing section above, Craigslist Costa Rica (several hostels for sale listed) and Ecuentra24 Costa Rica - https://www.encuentra24.com/costa-rica- … mp;page=1.  Eight listed here.

If your not involved in drugs, then yes, it's relatively safe here.  Robberies do happen but for the most part they occur in the poorer neighbourhoods of the country.  Kidnappings are pretty much unheard of here.

Good luck on your search.

Hi Ronan,

It's true that there is lots of hostels out there. It's all about location, location, location.   If you go where all the hostels are, you will not make it.  What you offer and how you are organized will make the difference and people want to get out of beaten paths.   I have some houses and I found out it was better to have long term rentals.  You make less money but it's also less work and a more stable income. You must have noticed on all the posts that people suggest renting before buying....well it's great publicity for us!

Life is short, follow your dreams! Live Simply. Love Generously. Care Deeply. Speak Kindly. ❤️  Gini

Gini,

Your right, with many of us always making the recommendations to rent and you saying it helps your income, where's my cut???   😒😆
