Fun places to live ?

jamesk_kerry

Hi All,

I am moving to Singapore from the UK this saturday. I am a 29 year old single Irish male. Work has me travelling between 3 offices, Raffles Link, Serangoon and Changi.

I want to live close to somewhere lively with lots of bars and cafes within walking distance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hello jamesk_kerry,

I hope that other members will recommend you some nice regions in regards to the criteria specified above.

My husband and I are close to your age and also wanted to be close to fun things to do. We started out in River Valley but found it too quiet. We also found being downtown and in the Clarke Quay area too touristy. We settled on Holland Village which is rather a typical expat landing pad but it's got what we want. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby and a good mix of people close to our age. Get a good agent, they will know other places that might work for you too.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies, funnily enough Novena and Holland Village are the 2 places I have been researching online so I will take a look at both. I am staying in Orchard Road for the first month as my company are paying for it.

My budget will strech to a max of about SGD $4k but I really would prefer to find something for around the SGD $3k mark. Does this sound reasonable in the locations you mentioned for a 1 bed (preferably condo)

Thanks all, I really appreciate this.

James

Can I also ask - is the MRT station in Holland Village open yet (has it finished construction)

Finally have you any opinions on Outram Park?

Thanks in advance !
