Day trip suggestion - Bordeaux

Post new topic

Hey guys!

I have some relatives visiting in September, and was wondering if anyone could recommend some good day trips outside of Bordeaux. We have a car, and are thinking of something outdoors-y like hiking. Thanks in advance!!

Hi Jeff

There are lots you can do for day trips, here are a few examples:
- Drive to the town of Saint Emilion - this is a historical town, and is where the famous wine brand is made. You can visit the chapel which is very nice, and take a walk in the vineyards all around the town.
- Bassin D'Arcachon, Dune du Pilat: drive towards the coast and climbe the Dune du Pilat, the highest sand dune in Europe. Breathtaking views from the top over the whole Arcachon bay
- Drive to the Basque Country, it's about 1.5 hour drive, but you get to the mountain and from there you can take beautiful hikes in the mountains. A good starting place is Saint Jean Pied de Port, beautiful town and the surrounding mountains are gorgeous.

Hope this helps!
