Business Registration Number - How & where to get it?

Post new topic

Hi all,

I recently moved to Mauritius and got my residence permit last month. I am looking to start a new venture by selling imports from India. I need to get a Business Registration Number and an import license ( Can get in touch with some Freight Forwarding Agents for this).

Can someone please tell me the procedure if you have relevant information on this.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

To register your company and get your BRN, you can either go to the Corporate and Business Registration Department or do it online here:

http://companies.govmu.org/English/Pages/default.aspx

To engage in the importation of goods, you will also need a Tax Account Number (TAN) from the Mauritius Revenue Authority:

For an import permit (if you are dealing in 'controlled goods'), you must contact the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Finally, get yourself a custom broker to assist you in regards to your imports.
