Living in Ho Chi Minh City

I used to live and work in HCMC.  I lived there for 6 months and worked for 2 months at Target Sourcing Services.

I would have described my life in HCMC as exciting and new.  Full of diversity and of course, lots of noise.  But you learn to take everything it, appreciate it and enjoy the sound of honking horns as much as you can.  I think my life in the city was really meaningful because of my background.  Being a Vietnamese-American and all.

It wasn't too complicated for me because I had some distant relatives to stay with and helped me get all my things in order.  Finding a job would have been difficult, but I really got lucky working for Target.

Making friends is a whole different story.  It was rather difficult for me to make friends with people my age.  Although I must say it was pretty hard to figure out how old people were.  But I had really great co-workers and a lot of them were older than me, but became really good friends.  I had a lot of guy friends that were 2-3 years younger than me, I'm not sure why.  And all the girls seemed really nice, however all the talk from my family members kind of made me stand offish with a lot of nice girls I met.  I learned not to listen to everyone after a while, but I'd be lying if I didn't second guess most girl's motive while talking with them.  Pretty horrible of me, I know.

I would recommend to people who would like to live in HCMC is to just do it.  Try it out and experience it for yourself because it's almost indescribable.
