Hello everyone,

What are the most expensive cities to live in Belgium? What are the costs of things such as rent, utilities, weekly groceries, dining out, etc.?

What is the lifestyle like in these cities, for expats and locals?

What are the different neighbourhoods like? Are there more affordable areas?

Do you have any experience living in any of Belgium's most expensive cities? What was it like?

Which cities in Belgium would you recommend? Are there any that offer particularly good value for money when it comes to cost of living?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi, well I know Mechelen is very expensive to live. I have lived many years in and around Antwerp. I would not recommend Antwerp to live. Horrid mentality here. Gent is a nice place, Brugge is nice. Genk is nice, Hasselt. I think if I could chose and had to remain in the Flanders I would go to the Limburg. Genk or Hasselt. I find the people more open there. And if I could speak French I would move to Wallonië in an instant. But that is just my opinion. I  know a lot of people who love Antwerp. As for other expensive places. I know the coastline is expensive. Not sure about Brussel area either. Limburg is cheaper with regards housing.
