Partial rental fee

Hi,

I have rented a furnished Villa originally for two month for about 15000 Birr. The key to the unit was handed to our helpers 2 weeks prior to our arrival in Addis. That was due to the communication error.

The Landlord then counted those two weeks and charged us as if we have lived there since then. We accepted that as if it was our fault for not knowing the local Laws.

As we have two weeks remaining to the two month we originally planed to stay in Addis,  we asked the landlord if he can extend two weeks more, that we would still pay fore, the Landlord refused to do so, claiming that he can only accept for a full month rental fee not partial.

I am not sure if this is a normal practice in Addis Ababa, if I want to dispute this, how would I go about it?
