HELP! Calling 800 number in the U.S.

Post new topic

Please I need some help here. My password on my online banking account isn't working and I need to call my bank in the U.S. but when I try to dial the 800 or 877 number I can't get through. All regular numbers to the US work fine.

Any help on how to get through would be great. Thanks!

Maybe try using Skype?  Or set up a Google Voice number?

Hello. What I do  (and works perfectly) is to get a VoIP number from the US (i use MagicJack - service is about 40$ for the entire year) and added to your account profiles. When you call out the banks, the system will recognize the number and you will be connected seamlessly.

Thank you! Hangouts worked.

We have no problem with either our Magic Jack or our Claro or Orange phone.
If you can make other calls to the US with no problem then just call the bank's regular number.

Thanks Bob:
I don't have any of those phones just my iphone from home. But I downloaded Hangouts and it worked perfectly! Everything got resolved and I am good for my next Dominican shopping spree. YAY!

Yes as a general rule 800 and 877 numbers don't work from many services. That is changing slowly as better technology is available.

For 800 numbers dial 880 instead of 800
888 use 881
866 use 882
877 use 883

the calls will not be free but that will get you through.

My 800 business # is good for the US and Canada.

Dial 881 instead of 800 don’t forget always dial 1 first ie. 1-(881) xxx-xxxx
