Hi there,

Which are your 10 favorite places to go out in Cambridge?

Which places would you recommend to newcomers? (restaurants, pubs, discos, theaters, cinemas, concert halls...)

Thanks!

jeanlucb

After 11.5 years in Cambridge, I would say my favourite places to go out are:

Restaurants
- The Oak Bistro (Lensfield Rd): Very good and affordable, [the owner: Philip (long hair) is great and friendly]
- D'Arrys (King Street): Australian restaurant, very affordable too
- Chez Gerard (Bridge Street): Affordable French restaurant
- Alimentum (Hills Road): Bit more upmarket, but great food and interior design (Jazz nights on Tuesdays)

Pubs
- The Geldart (1 Ainsworth Street): Gastro pub, with sometimes live music and art exhibition. Elvis (the landlord) is a great guy, go and say hi! Also has a beer garden and does hog roasts.
- The Pickerel (near Magdalene bridge): Supposedly the oldest pub in Cambridge, great beers and beer garden in the summer
- The Snug (Lensfield Rd): Nice and warm, makes good food too
- The Baron of Beef (Bridge Street): Great for football games

Bars
- The Arts Picturehouse bar (Regent Street): The bar of the cinema is good, and they also make crepes. Plus you can stay and watch a film, many world cinema films (French, etc) are shown there

Late night bars
- La Raza (Rose Crescent): My favourite haunt when on the booze late at night. DJ and sometimes band play there. Was once called a "girls' mine" by a friend of mine

Hope you enjoy these places and get back to me with feedback!
