Pensionado - Making Payments and Getting Receipts

Post new topic

Hello!

I'm reading up on applying for the Pensionado Residency and I see that I have to pay $50 for the application and $200 to change status from tourist to applying for residency into account 242480-0 at the Banco de Costa Rica. I read that I am supposed to make the deposit in colones.

Question, can anyone recommend a website where I can find an accurate conversion from USD to Colone? I've looked online and there are some differences among the various websites. I don't want to send too little money and hold up the application!

Thanks.

If you use any bank, the bank will make a conversion for you., first it will buy you the USDs, then it will make the deposit. But if you want to see the going exchange rate, here's one site (my bank site) that gives you a close idea: http://www.bancobcr.com/novedades/. On the right-hand side of the screen, you'll see a "Tipos de Cambio" text, and below it  "compra' is what the bank will pay for your USD, "venta" is what the bank will sell you USD for.

I see, so the compra says $563, so my $200 is 200 * 563 = 112,600 colones, yes?

Or very close as it changes by the minute.  When I do on line money conversion with my bank the rate is only valid for five minutes at a time.  It can go up or down the next five minutes.

Thank you for the clarification.

Cheek,

Go here:
https://coinmill.com/CRC_USD.html#CRC=60

It will show you the current conversion rate.
