Hello,

Newbie here. Just getting information overload since I decided to move to the Netherlands this year. I understand you must register in the place you're moving to, but what if I choose to move elsewhere afterward? Once I register residence somewhere am I doomed to stay there for eternity?

Little help would be a godsend!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You are required to register where you live (within 5-days, but I've never heard of anybody getting into trouble for being a few days late); if you subsequently move, then you de-register where you were living, then go and register where you are moving to, it takes a few minutes.

It's not only Expats who have to do this, everyone has to do it.

Hope this helps.
