Going through the French paperwork to get a VISA for my Filipino gf

Hello everyone,

I'm a French male and I'm currently trying to figure out what my Filipino girlfriend is supposed to do in order to come to France live with me.

Our goals are:
- To live together, in France, around May/June 2018 and stay there for an extended period of time. (sharing an appartment most likely)
- For her to work in France, basically apply for something once she's here, she doesn't have any contract or anything yet

We aren't married or anything alike, and we are really struggling at understanding under what "plan" and "purpose of stay" she's supposed to apply. The following screenshots come from https://france-visas.gouv.fr/group/fran … wFlow=true where you can apply for a French VISA online.

Her "plan" isn't familial, nor study, nor official function. So I'd say it's either Business or Other.

When selecting "Business", we get those choices. But all kind of assume you already have an employer, which isn't our case. She isn't entrepreneer nor independant.

The "Other" only provides with "Return Visa" and "Veteran".

So, here we are. We don't fit in those boxes and we're a bit lost.
We digged deeper and we're pretty sure we need to apply for a long stay visa (>90 days), and it also seems easier for students to get around so I'm wondering if going in as a student, then changing the visa to be able to work is a good idea.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

You have to get close to Tlscontact in Philippines. Your visa application must go thru them and they pass it to the french embassy.

Bear in mind that Philippines is on the poor asian countries list which requires strong garanties to get a visa for France or schengen and there are a lot of denied application.

Of course if you marry, that changes all.

Thank you Keyser. I've never heard of Tlscontact so far.

We are also looking into the possibility of asking for a student Visa, https://www.campusfrance.org/en seems to be a good resource with potential scholarships, or general guidance in the process. I don't know if asking for a student Visa would be easier, she already have a psychology degree but she won't go far in France with that so we're looking into studies related (or not) to psychology she could do here.

If you have any advice/feedback about that, we'd be glad to hear it. Thanks!

If i’m not mistaken a friend of mine enrolled into a French as a foreign language (FLE) school to get her first student visa (i think it has a limit of 1-2 years though). She then looked for other work or study opportunities once in France, having to change the visa type each time, and has been living here for close to 5 years now
