Hi Guys,

I'm new to this Expat life, just moved to Lombok to work on some great building projects. I'm an architect working with natural and sustainable building materials. Really excited to get stuck in and also to explore as much of Indonesia as possible whilst i'm here!

So my questions to you all is - where do you get your information about whats going on locally to you?
Where would you find out open new restaurants or events happening?
If your looking for something new - or a new place to discover where do you look?
Do you follow travel blogs or is there something more tailored to expats?

Lombok is a beautiful island, great for water activities and serious relaxing.
Bali, just next door to you, has everything from temples to wild bars, basically something for everyone.
The mountains of central Java are great for hiking and climbing, whilst the cities have great shopping malls.
The adventurous might want so have a go at photography, either landscape stuff or street snapping.
Komodo has dragons, yep, real dragons.
Loads more to go at and I'm sure other posters will offer ideas.
